Lime’s Growth Reflects Shared Micromobility’s Rise

Lime’s upcoming Ride Replay will drop on December 15th, highlighting the rapid expansion of shared micromobility, with the company surpassing one billion lifetime rides in 2025. Lime estimates it helped eliminate 38m car trips this year, hit a single-day record of over one million rides, and grew UK revenue 75% year-over-year to £111.3m in 2024. The wider industry is also maturing, with rising adoption among older riders and improved vehicles that are more stable and accessible. Lime’s trajectory reflects micromobility’s shift from niche service to mainstream urban transport, while still navigating the challenges of scaling globally.

Sales volume grew 38% to 8.79m units, led by electric bicycles, which accounted for nearly half of total revenue. Türkiye Tightens Scooter Safety Rules
Türkiye has introduced its strictest e-scooter regulations yet, mandating real-time tracking and expanded local authority oversight to curb rising safety risks. Operators must submit monthly reports on accidents and complaints, with GPS-enabled scooters that slow automatically in restricted zones. The rules follow troubling safety data from 2024, including 18 deaths and over 2.2k injuries.

The radar system provides a 150-degree field of view and detects vehicles up to 230 feet behind the rider, with alerts managed through the Segway Mobility App. The Myon is designed for both daily commuting and weekend rides, expanding Segway’s e-bike lineup beyond models such as the Xyber and Xafari.

Mississauga Reconsiders Micromobility Program
Mississauga councillors are reassessing the city’s shared micromobility program amid safety concerns, enforcement limitations, and rising management costs. The Bird- and Lime-run system recorded 120.1k trips in 2025, a 7% increase from 2024, driven largely by e-bike growth, which rose to 23.1k trips in 2025 from 10.6k in 2024. In contrast, e-scooter trips declined slightly to 96.9k in 2025. Staff estimate $150k is needed to expand parking infrastructure, while debate continues over vendor accountability and the long-term future of the program.
