Electric Bikes outsell acoustic bikes in GermanyElectric bikes are expected to outsell regular bikes in 2023 in Germany for the first time. B/c of higher price point of eBikes, revenue has more than tripled over the past decade, to €7.4 billion last year. Drivers are eBike performance relative to conventional bikes, shared services exposing customers to eBikes, and policy.

Bike and scooter media firm Micromobility Industries has tracked 87 active incentive programs in the US and Canada that encourage adoption, with over 230 similar efforts across Europe.

German manufacturers’ domestic passenger car production slumped to just under 3.1 million in 2021, down by almost half from five years earlier and the lowest since 1975.British bicycle manufacturer Raleigh is expected to continue moving towards electrification of their vehicles, and their parent company Accell Group anticipates 2023 to be their first year selling more ebikes than mechanical bikes.

Vehicle Launches:

A new British startup, BackPedal, offers ebike theft protection via a monthly subscription, which includes an integrated GPS system with LTE capabilities for your ebike and a retrieval team that tracks lost bikes and connects law enforcement to intervene safely.

San Francisco-based mobility subscription startup Tempo is offering flexible leases, for a wide range of vehicles. Their first partner is Äike, whose T scooter model will be available on Tempo for $75 per month.

Amsterdam-based Veloretti released its Electric Two ebike line, which includes updated Ivy mid-step and Ace step-over models. Like the previous models, the Electric Two bikes will feature a mid-mount Bafang motor, Gates carbon belt drive, and Enviolo auto shifting hub - all high quality components. What’s new is a sleeker design via downtube-routed cables, an updated handlebar display, a more ergonomic cockpit button setup, and a companion mobile app.

The rideable suitcase popularized by Kpop star Jennie Kim is available for purchase from Airwheel, starting at $1,000. It only maxes out at 8 mph, but its airplane-grade aluminum frame can bare a load of up to 242 pounds.

If you’re looking for an extra boost in your escooter, the new Inmotion RS is more than enough. Sporting not one but two 2,000-Watt motors, the RS claims a top speed of 68 mph and a 0-30 mph acceleration in just three seconds.

BMW and German ebike producer Cube have collaborated to create the Trike Hybrid, a three-wheeled electric cargo vehicle. Sporting a Bosch Cargo Line Gen 4 motor and claiming up to 485 pounds of hauling capacity, the Trike Hybrid appears to be a highly capable vehicle for cruising with the kids or carrying some luggage.
