Chicago shared micromobility rides went up ~26% to 11.02m in 2024 from 8.7m in 2023
Chicago DOT is planning to electrify 110 of the 1k+ stations, and is expected to eliminate 80% of battery swapping.
Donkey Republic secured a $8.38m (DKK 61m) debt facility with EIFO, NEFCO, and Sydbank to propel its 2025 bike fleet expansion and refinance existing loans. 60% of the financing is allocated to growth, while 40% will go toward refinancing.
In 2025, Bird will launch e-scooters in Vernon, replacing Neuron Mobility. The contract, effective January 1, includes options for three one-year extensions running till April 2028. Scooters will be deployed when weather permits, most likely in the spring.

Pittsburgh's POGOH bike share saw rides double in 2024, reaching 464k compared to 211k in 2023. The system has 60 stations, 600 bikes (over half e-bikes), and plans to add 53 more stations.
Winnipeg may set speed limits for e-bikes and scooters on pathways, excluding bicycles. It plans to study other regulations like Calgary’s 20 km/h limit. E-bikes are capped at 32 km/h under Manitoba law, while Quebec bans uncertified power-assisted vehicles on roads and bike lanes.
In 2023, Segway e-scooters worldwide sales reached $299.7m (2.1B Yuan). Segway holds more than 800 patents for its e-scooters and there are 10m+ riders across the world. At CES 2025, Segway showcased its 3rd gen e-scooters, including the lightweight E3, F3 MAX G3, ZT3, and the GT3 series.
Lime announced that 2024 marked its most successful year in Bronx, after their local launch in 2021. They also reported a 51% increase in unique riders compared to 2023. In total, Lime provided over 59k Bronx riders with ~1.49m rides, showing a 55% increase in total rides compared to 2023.
Simi Valley City Council in California, is considering banning e-scooters and e-bikes from sidewalks due to safety concerns. Staff will draft an ordinance with potential fines for violations, which the council will review in an upcoming meeting.
Azerbaijan has created 35 km of bike paths, targeting 100 km. The transport agency added 300 parking points and 25 bicycle sections with traffic lights. In Baku, 4.7k micromobility vehicles are rented, with 77% being scooters, 18% bikes, and 5% e-bikes. From September to December, operators logged 850k trips.

Italy is offering regional bike incentives to boost sustainable transport. Emilia Romagna provides up to 50% off electric bikes (upto €500) and cargo bikes (upto €1k), ending July 1, with €2.65m allocated. Lombardy offers €50–€100 vouchers for shared mobility users, valid until June 30, funded with €7.9m.
SEBI, India’s market regulator, issued a warning to Ola Electric for announcing its store expansion on social media before informing investors, violating disclosure norms. Ola Electric, which went public in August 2023, recently opened 3.2k stores to improve service. Following this, shares fell 1.6% to $0.90, after an earlier drop of 5%.
