Cowboy, the Brussels-based e-bike company, announced a major leadership change today as it enters a new phase of operation.
Tanguy Goretti, Cowboy’s co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, will step down from his operational executive role. He moves to a position as an advisor and board member. To lead the company forward, Cowboy has appointed two General Managers to oversee daily operations.
This transition comes just weeks after the company finalized a restructuring deal with ReBirth Group in December 2025, which secured new funding and restarted production following a period of financial uncertainty.
A New Operational Duo
With former CEO Adrien Roose having left the company last month, Cowboy has split the leadership of its operations between Kjell Fastré and Oliver Barleben.

Kjell Fastré, who joined Cowboy mid-2025 as Vice President of Operations, will serve as General Manager for sales and after-sales. His primary focus will be managing customer and partner relationships. Before joining the e-bike maker, Fastré spent over 25 years in the tech sector, including leadership roles at IBM.
Oliver Barleben takes on the role of General Manager for supply chain, manufacturing, finance, and engineering. Barleben has been with Cowboy since 2022, previously serving as Chief Supply Chain Officer. With two decades of experience in procurement, including time at Philips, he is tasked with getting stock levels back to normal and stabilizing the company’s finances.
“With Kjell and Oliver already leading critical parts of the business, the company is well-positioned to focus on execution, stability, and long-term growth,” Goretti said regarding the appointments.
Goretti’s Legacy and Future Role
Tanguy Goretti co-founded Cowboy in 2017 and was instrumental in building the hardware and software that defined the brand. Under his technical leadership, the company put over 80k bikes on the road and launched features like Auto Unlock, Crash Detection and AdaptivePower™.
While he leaves his executive post, Goretti will remain involved in shaping the product roadmap and brand vision as a board member.
Focus on delivery and stability
The new leadership team has outlined immediate priorities to stabilize the business. Cowboy aims to clear its entire order backlog for bikes and spare parts by the end of February. The company is also working to return delivery timelines to standard levels.
Simultaneously, Cowboy continues to roll out its recall program, which will expand to customers in Denmark and Germany in the coming weeks.
