In response to sweeping e-bike bans across California municipalities, a coalition of 30 California bike advocacy groups has appealed to state legislators to differentiate between e-bikes, classified as Class 1, 2, 3, and non-street-legal electric motorcycles, like Surron and Talaria.

In other California news, Caltrans has allocated $830M to infrastructure improvements, including multiple bike infrastructure projects in San Diego, Port of Los Angeles, and the San Fernando Valley.

Shared micromobility operator Lime has announced that riders took over 175M trips across 280 cities in 2024, replacing over 43M car trips.

Forest and Bird are teaming up. A deal between the two shared micromobility providers gives Bird users access to Forest’s e-bike service in London via the Bird App.

Bankrupt e-cargo bike builder Onomotion received an early holiday gift as it was acquired by Emoving, a subsidiary of DuTech Holdings. DuTech’s portfolio of businesses, which includes multiple e-bike entities, will be welcome resources for Onomotion to resume manufacturing and potentially expand.

The Netherlands is taking steps to regulate the recent surge of illegal fat bike imports. The RAI Association, the Dutch bike industry organization, is introducing a new e-bike quality certification indicating whether a fat bike meets EN standards and road safety regulations.

Zen Mobility is tackling last-mile delivery in India with its Micro Pod and Mini Pod electric vehicles. The company has deployed over 1,200 vehicles across 12 cities in India, including clients like Zomato and Blinkit.
