Riding Uphill: The Tariff Squeeze on America’s Bike Scene

The US bicycle industry is facing headwinds with a steep tariff squeeze, as import duties on bikes, components, and metals rise sharply, increasing the total cost of the vehicle and compressing margins. Delivery Robots Shift from Experiment to Scaled Urban Logistics

Autonomous delivery robots have rapidly shifted from pilots to a regular part of urban logistics, boosted by the pandemic and advances in navigation and AI. Companies like Starship, Serve Robotics, and Delivers.ai now operate fleets across dozens of cities, backed by more than $1B in funding and supported by a growing Robot-as-a-Service model. Major platforms such as DoorDash are adopting their own robots, integrating them into hybrid delivery networks with human couriers. Regulatory and accessibility challenges remain, but market growth indicates delivery robots are becoming a long-term fixture in last-mile logistics.

Florence Ends E-Scooter Rentals

The city of Florence has voted to end its rental e-scooter scheme starting 1 April 2026, citing safety and uncontrolled parking issues. The secure outdoor cabinets will feature fire-suppression systems and real-time monitoring. Following public engagement and utility upgrades, the first cabinets are expected to be installed in 2027.
