Webinar Flashback: Decoding Shared Micromobility

Go beyond the numbers and hear the stories behind the data. Join a panel of experts from Lyft Urban Solutions, MTC, and BKT bici pública for a dynamic webinar that seamlessly integrates data-driven insights from the latest Lyft Multimodal Report with invaluable real world experience from systems in the San Francisco Bay Area, Guadalajara, and Mexico City.
Moderated by Micromobility Industries CEO Prabin Joel Jones, this discussion will offer a comprehensive analysis of global ridership figures, evolving travel patterns, and the critical integration of micromobility with public transit. Drawing from Lyft Urban Solutions' extensive experience as the operator of the largest bikeshare programs in the United States and a hardware/software provider for 57 cities across 16 countries, the panel will also explore key trends that are shaping the future of shared micromobility.
Capital Bikeshare Hits New High

Capital Bikeshare (CaBi) set a new annual record in 2025 with nearly 6.7m rides, a 9% increase over 2024, making it the second-busiest bikeshare system in the U.S. after NYC’s Citi Bike. Growth was driven largely by annual members and e-bike use, and the system expanded to 819 stations across the DC region. However, monthly ridership declined later in the year after price increases. Most trips still occur in Washington, D.C., and CaBi continues to be a key urban mobility option.
Edinburgh’s Voi E-Bike Scheme Expands Again

Edinburgh’s new Voi electric bike hire scheme has expanded for the third time in five months after recording nearly 188k rides since launching in September. The fleet has grown to just over 700 bikes, with coverage extended to areas including Stockbridge, Inverleith, Craigleith, and parts of Ravelston. Nearly 26.5k riders have used the service so far, averaging more than 1k trips per day, almost double the usage achieved by the city’s previous bike-share scheme in its first year. While the council has praised the scheme’s popularity and plans to reach 800 bikes by the end of February, concerns remain around sidewalk clutter and parking compliance.
New York E-Bike Subsidy Pilot Loses State Funding
New York State Energy Research and Development Authority has declined to fund the rollout of a planned e-bike subsidy program developed by Bike New York, despite previously awarding the group a planning grant. The decision stalls a $3.9m proposal aimed at helping low-income residents and people in transit-poor areas of New York City afford legal pedal-assist e-bikes, underscoring a growing gap between public support for micromobility and actual implementation. Advocates say the move highlights a lack of political leadership, even as e-bikes are increasingly framed as an affordable car alternative and a way to expand access to clean transportation.
Laka Partners With eurorad

Laka has partnered with eurorad Deutschland GmbH to ensure riders in Germany do not lose insurance coverage when their bike lease ends. Under the new partnership, eurorad customers who buy their bike at the end of a lease can transition seamlessly to Laka’s collective-driven insurance, avoiding the common coverage gap that occurs when leasing insurance expires. The move addresses a small but critical friction point in the bike leasing journey, helping make ownership feel like a natural next step rather than a new risk.
Donkey Republic Raises €10m
Donkey Republic raised about €10m in an oversubscribed private funding round. The funds were raised by private placement of new shares priced at around €0.80 each. The company initially planned to raise about €2-4m, but due to strong investor demand, the round was oversubscribed and ultimately increased to roughly €10m. The capital will support the company’s expansion, strengthen its balance sheet, and lower its cost of capital as it scales operations in key markets such as the Ruhr and Düsseldorf. The company is also preparing to uplist from Nasdaq First North to the Nasdaq Copenhagen Main Market in 2026, aiming to broaden its investor base and improve liquidity.

The 60 Year Ride to Shared E-Bikes

Shared e-bikes have transitioned from a niche idea to mainstream in under a decade, evolving from early trials to widespread adoption in urban bike-share systems. What started with small pilot schemes has grown into a major component of global micromobility networks, outlasting many early brands and models. The narrative highlights both the longevity and the resilience of e-bike sharing compared with short-lived initiatives. It underscores how the technology and infrastructure have matured, shaping the way cities think about short-distance travel and shared mobility.
Oregon Bill Proposes Lower E-Bike Age Limit
Oregon lawmakers are considering House Bill 4007, which would lower the legal riding age for e-bikes from 16 to 14 while also updating rules for the rapidly growing micromobility market. The bill raises e-scooter speed limits to 20 mph, creates a new legal category for powered micromobility devices like e-skateboards and OneWheels, tightens rules on battery safety, and cracks down on high-speed e-motos being mis-sold as e-bikes. Supporters say the changes bring clarity, improve safety for young riders, and help families, schools, and small businesses adapt to the reality of modern electric mobility.
Training Boosts Disabled Access to Shared Micromobility

A pilot in Salford found that targeted training can significantly boost shared e-bike and e-scooter use among disabled people, with over half of participants riding independently within a month. Led by Collaborative Mobility UK and delivered by Cycling UK, the program showed that confidence-building, hands-on training, and app guidance can unlock uptake beyond infrastructure alone. Outreach via Disabled People’s Organisations proved most effective, while the UK’s driving licence requirement for shared e-scooters remains a key barrier.
