Sydney Proposes Fines for Poorly Parked Shared E-Bikes

New legislation in New South Wales proposes strict regulations for shared e-bike operators, including fines of up to $55k for failing to remove improperly parked bikes. The rules would establish dedicated parking bays and allow councils to set “no-go” and “go-slow” zones. Operators would also be required to meet standards for helmet provision, maintenance, and rider education, funded by a per-trip levy. The government cited a 200% increase in e-bike trips as driving the need for clearer rules.

The City of Imatra will introduce a permit requirement for commercial shared micromobility services, such as e-scooters and city bikes, starting January 1, 2026. Myrtle Beach Implements New E-Scooter Restrictions
The city of Myrtle Beach has passed an ordinance imposing new restrictions on personal electric devices, primarily e-scooters. It is now illegal to use them on roads with speed limits above 30 mph, as well as on sidewalks or any city-owned property, including parks and parking garages. Permanent E-Bike Ban Passed in Key Biscayne

The ban includes an exception for mobility devices used by individuals with disabilities.
