Som Ray is the CEO and Co-founder of CLIP, bringing two decades of experience creating consumer-focused hardware and software innovations. Recognized by MIT Technology Review as a Top Innovator Under 35, Som's journey bridges design, technology, and sustainable transportation.
Som's work in urban mobility began at MIT Media Lab's Smart Cities group, followed by an early venture into electric vehicles with an auto-rickshaw startup in India in 2009. Som's commitment to impactful design earned him the TR35 Award for developing an ultra-low-cost wheelchair solution that transformed accessibility in emerging markets.
Before CLIP, Som founded successful ventures including a design technology consultancy and Timescape, a data visualization platform used by UNESCO and World Wildlife Fund. As Creative Director at Midnight Commercial in Brooklyn, Som led consumer brand experiences for global brands including Target, Samsung, and Cartier.
At CLIP, Som champions sustainable urban mobility through modular design principles and circular economy practices, creating products that reduce carbon emissions while minimizing waste. Combining his architectural background with deep expertise in consumer technology, Som leads CLIP's mission to revolutionize urban mobility through thoughtful design and innovation.
