Shared Micromobility Alliance

Rikesh Shah is a leading voice in urban mobility, with deep expertise in micromobility, emerging transport technologies and city‑focused innovation. He chairs the Shared Micromobility Alliance, uniting cities, operators and industry partners to maximise the public value of shared bikes and e‑scooters through better safety, design, data and deployment.Rikesh advises global mobility and climate‑tech industry leaders in mobility, as well as supporting cities and companies to shape trials, regulation, safety frameworks and market engagement for new mobility modes.Previously, he led Transport for London’s innovation team, delivering pioneering work in micromobility, active travel, road safety and customer experience. He created TfL’s first Innovation Hub and helped scale new mobility solutions through agile procurement, design thinking and strong partnerships with start‑ups, academia and industry. He also played a central role in TfL’s internationally recognised open data programme, powering hundreds of mobility apps used by millions.Rikesh is the Global Urban Mobility Director at Cities Today, a Non‑Executive Director at the London Transport Museum, and an advisor to the UNDP on the future of cities. He lectures on mobility and innovation at the Royal College of Art and The Engineering & Design Institute, and previously served on the Mayor of London’s Smart London Board.
