Katy Burgio is a Senior Program Manager in NYCHA’s Sustainability Team. Katy leads a team focused on implementing goals outlined in the NYCHA Sustainability Agenda and delivering key demonstration projects that change the urban realm at NYCHA including pneumatic waste collection in Harlem, micromobility charging and storage, and hoist-collected curbside waste containers. The team also oversees more than half a billion dollars to update NYCHA’s waste management equipment, changes operational procedures to accommodate sustainable infrastructure, and works with community-based organizations to further the City’s sustainability goals. Katy has a degree in Chemical Engineering with minors in Global Sustainability and Urban Planning from the University of Virginia. Katy is also a four-season bike commuter.
