About
Dorothy “Dot” Fennell is a mom to three school aged girls, engaged community member and transportation planner based in Boston, Massachusetts. Her journey from a Philadelphia streetcar suburb to advocate for practical and impactful urban mobility solutions can be traced back to navigating Philly’s “L” with her grandmother. Dot is particularly interested in how rethinking automobile dependence and shifting towards multimobility sets a community up for success. Growing up in a multigenerational household with grandparents that never learned to drive or eventually lost the ability to do so; she saw early on that communities heavily designed around car-mobility limit opportunities for independence for those who can’t drive.
In May 2024, Fennell launched CargoB alongside neighbor and co-founder, Zack DeClerck. As the nation’s first on-demand electric cargo bikeshare, the proposition was simple, make putting down the car keys and hopping on a bike, -even when you have to transport heavy things- effortless and maybe even, enjoyable! Dot firmly believes we don’t have to choose between building prosperous, climate resilient cities and having agency over our own personal mobility. We can actually have both via a different type of vehicle, shared electric cargo bikes, that are right-sized for urban living!
