Toward Greater Diversity

Micromobility is a big word for a small idea, the idea that all people should have the right to cleaner, safer, and more affordable modes of transportation. Equity is a part of this movement and there have been hopeful signs that lightweight electric vehicles are especially impactful for low-income communities.

Yet there is still work to be done. Like other tech movements in their infancy, such as computing hardware and software, early adopters of micromobility tend to come from a small group that does not reflect the diversity of the real world. (Just don’t compare us to crypto zealots.)

For us, the challenge is compounded by the cost of running our events, which results in prices that can exclude new community members from joining. We are hoping to drive a more diverse audience at Micromobility Europe in Berlin on October 1 and our goal is to provide support to individuals from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in the space but cannot afford to attend.

To meet this goal, we are excited to announce that we are launching a Diversity Partnership Program, aimed at improving inclusivity and bringing new thought leaders to the summit.

Starting today, we are offering partners bundles of 5 tickets at 85% off the General Admission price (€120/ticket) for them to distribute to employees and other individuals who come from underrepresented backgrounds in our space. We are trying to be as open as possible with our partners on how they might want to invite people from these backgrounds. We are especially interested in inviting and welcoming people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities, and people facing economic or social hardships.

You can purchase these diversity support tickets here. We will start a partner section on the site to highlight all companies that have pledged their support. Our goal is to have this program represent at least 10% of our total attendees.

If you would like to come to the show and want to become eligible for a ticket from a partner, please contact us, info@micromobility.io

Let’s build a more diverse community together. See you in Berlin.
